Rad news: Sarasota County earns BMX finals event
SARASOTA, Fla. — The fall of 2016 Sarasota County will be the site of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup finals.
The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup is the premiere BMX racing series in the world, with a world-wide live TV coverage and a strong following amongst BMX and cycling fans. BMX “Supercross” is the most exciting and action-packed type of BMX racing and an Olympic discipline since 2008.
The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup attracts the very best BMX athletes in the world and over 250 male and female athletes from 35 countries are expected to compete in Sarasota in October 2016.
“We are honored Sarasota County was chosen as a location for this high profile event,” says Nicole Rissler, Director of Sports for the Sarasota Sports Commission. “We look forward to welcoming the athletes and their families to Sarasota County in 2016.”
This will be the first UCI BMX Supercross World Cup event hosted in Sarasota, one of five destinations selected by UCI to hold 2016 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup rounds. The Overall World Cup Champion will be crowned in Sarasota being the last event in 2016.
