Florida Hospital Center Ice taking shape

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — The state’s largest ice hockey facility is taking shape in Wesley Chapel, promising to boost participation in ice sports and bring in local sales tax revenues.

The 150,000-square-foot building, called Florida Hospital Center Ice, will be the largest ice hockey facility in the state, and it’s already beginning to take form.

“These are exciting times for Pasco County and I’m ecstatic that Florida Hospital Center Ice has chosen Wesley Chapel as its home. I’m confident that Gordie and the Z Mitch development team will do a fantastic job expanding youth hockey in our county, in addition to hosting players and teams from around the globe,” said Pasco Commissioner Mike Moore.

The steel building is in the production phase with vertical steel construction starting late December. With the foundation in process, the building construction phase will take about six to eight months.

“Florida Hospital is excited to partner with Florida Hospital Center Ice to provide sports medicine services including sports performance and injury, off ice conditioning programs and athletic trainers to help treat injuries and connect athletes to appropriate care, when necessary,”  said Barbara Morris, director of the Florida Hospital Sports Medicine & Performance program. “It’s exciting to see construction moving forward on this world class facility.”
